Somatic Therapy with Heather in Connecticut & New York | Anxiety & Trauma Healing
A body-based approach to healing anxiety, trauma, and chronic stress.
What Is Somatic Therapy
If you’ve done therapy, still feel anxious, tense, or overwhelmed in your body, and are searching for a somatic approach to healing, you are in the right place.
Somatic therapy is an evidence-informed, body-based approach to healing that can help you:
✺ Understand how your nervous system uniquely responds to stress and trauma
✺ Release stored tension, chronic stress, and trauma from your body
✺ Increase your capacity for regulation, safety, and presence
✺ Shift patterns that talking alone cannot reach
Rather than analyzing your experiences, we work with how these experiences live in your body.
We believe every woman’s body holds profound wisdom—and when we can learn to listen to and decode that wisdom, healing becomes integrated, sustainable, and real.
Who Somatic Therapy Is For
Somatic therapy may be especially helpful if you’ve been experiencing any of the following for 3 or more months:
✺ Sleep disturbances (difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking early)
✺ Digestive issues such as constipation, indigestion, or bloating
✺ High emotional reactivity, irritability, or anger
✺ Hypervigilance or feeling constantly “on alert”
✺ Intrusive nightmares or flashbacks
✺ Chronic fatigue or low energy
✺ Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
✺ Unexplained muscle tension or pain (lower back, neck, shoulders, jaw)
This work may also support you if you:
✺ Have a history of trauma or unresolved emotional experiences from your past
✺ Suspect you may be experiencing symptoms of PTSD
✺ Feel stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses
✺ Understand your patterns, but can’t seem to shift how you feel day-to-day
How It Works
Through simple, guided somatic practices, you’ll learn how to increase your nervous system’s capacity to move flexibly between activation and rest.
Over time, this work helps you shift from feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges to meeting them with greater energy, clarity, and resilience.
Somatic therapy is about becoming more resourced, more self-trusting, and more at-home in your body.
Clients often share they feel more capable and empowered to navigate situations that once felt overwhelming—with a deeper sense of groundedness and internal safety.
Inside a somatic therapy session, you will:
✺ Slow down and track what’s happening in your body
✺ Gently work with your nervous system
✺ Release chronic stress, trauma, and stored patterns
✺ Build a deeper sense of safety and regulation
✺ Connect with parts of yourself shaped by past experiences and support them in safely processing and releasing what they’ve been holding
This work is slow, intentional, and deeply effective.
What You Can Expect
Clients often report:
✺ Feeling calmer, more grounded, and more relaxed in their body
✺ Greater mental clarity and focus
✺ Increased access to creativity and intuition
✺ Responding more intentionally instead of reacting from overwhelm
✺ Feeling more connected to their body and inner experience
✺ Greater capacity for self-care, self-compassion, and nourishment
